My path to all of this was a winding road of grief and loss.
It began in a small town outside of Hartford, Connecticut where I was a typical teen eating the standard American diet of white bread, processed snacks, and way too much diet soda. And when I was in college, my mom was beginning to battle breast cancer. She gave it a good fight for years but passed away in June of 2001. Her care and treatment made me question a few things about the connection between diet, nutrition, health, and disease. I didn’t have much time to grieve, because only twenty days later I discovered my dad had suffered a massive stroke, and eventually passed away due to complications of heart disease. Now parentless and grieving, I tried to move forward and slowly began to make a better life for myself. Ditching a job I hated and slowly finding my way into a healthier space. Now, years later, I consider my parents passing as their parting gift. A course correction toward health in my mid-to-late twenties that led me in a new direction. A clean eating, plant-focused path to not only a healthier body and mind but also a true vocation — and a passion to serve others so they can spend more time with the ones they love and enjoy a long life.
Today, I am passionate about helping people take charge of their health, feel their best, and create simple delicious satisfying meals. I am blessed to teach, cook and share in my community of Cranford, NJ and the New York City metro area. When I’m not in the kitchen, you can find me spending time with my husband Joe and son Finn, enjoying nature.
